A Rome man who allegedly failed to return a vehicle to its owner was arrested Wednesday after being stopped for a traffic violation, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the report:

Paul Brent Howell, 43, of 312 Canard Road, took a vehicle sometime Tuesday morning without permission and failed to return it to the owner.

He also stole a bank card and cell phone and had a container of prescription medication with the label torn off of it. Howell stated that the pills were not his.

Howell was pulled over in the MidTown Crossing shopping center Wednesday by a Rome police officer for speeding and driving while license suspended or revoked.

He was taken into custody and also found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle.

Howell was charged with felony counts of entering a vehicle and theft by taking and misdemeanor drugs not in the original container.

He remained in jail Wednesday night without bond on the two felony charges. His bond was $1,300 on the misdemeanor charge.
