I SPENT 18 years of my life working at Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital as a senior companion and a volunteer in the Foster Grandparents Program. Audrey Wimberly hired me.

I think it was a big mistake to close the hospital. Surely the state of Georgia could afford to keep it open.

All of the staff were great and each member of our program was always there to help. I worked at the alcohol unit. I loved every precious patient. They had a lot going for them. At Christmas we had our beautiful lighting of the trees.

I feel each patient should be housed at a beautiful place like that, not in our jail.
