PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) — Authorities in east Alabama are searching for an inmate they say was inadvertently released from a county jail.

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor said the inmate, a suspect in a grocery store robbery, was released on Tuesday by mistake. A search was ongoing Wednesday.

Authorities say Cimarron Lamb had been arrested in connection with the robbery last week of the Rainbow Foods in Fort Mitchell. They say he's accused of driving the getaway car.

Jail officials say he had not yet been booked into the lockup and apparently was being detained in a holding cell with three inmates who were about to be released when the incident occurred.
