The top-seeded Berry volleyball team is headed to the SAA championship match.

The Lady Vikings advanced to the title match after defeating Birmingham-Southern in straight sets in an SAA semifinal match on Saturday.

Set scores were 25-16, 25-19, 25-19 during the Lady Vikings’ victory.

Berry will face No. 2-seeded Millsaps today for the conference title.

The Lady Vikings hit .330 as a team while the lady Panthers were held to a .186 hitting percentage.

Emily Stromberg had 12 kills and hit .400 for the Lady Vikings.

Teammate Kelsey Lochstampfor added 11 kills. Stephanie Quinn posted a double-double with 30 assists and 13 digs.

BERRY MEN’S SOCCER

Berry College shut out Oglethorpe, 3-0, in an SAA semifinal match on Saturday. The win puts the second-seeded Vikings against top seed Centre today in the SAA Championship game.

Berry’s Christian Fulbright scored in the 38th minute and Tyler Jennings earned the assist.

The Vikings got second half tallies from Zak Wallingford (49:55) and Caleb Lucas (59:55) to seal the match.

Berry’s defense produced its 10th shutout of the season. Logan Hill played the full 90 minutes for BC. He got the win grabbed three saves.

“I thought we played really well today and that was one of the best performances our program has had in the past few years,” said Berry Head Coach Richard Vardy. “Everyone did their roles and performed well.”

Frank Petersen had seven saves in goal for Oglethorpe. The Stormy Petrels ended their season at 9-7.

Berry (14-3-1) plays in the inaugural SAA championship at 2 p.m. today.
