DURHAM, N.C. — Tajh Boyd threw for 344 yards and tied a school record with five touchdown passes for the second straight week to help No. 10 Clemson beat Duke 56-20 on Saturday night.

DeAndre Hopkins caught three of those TD tosses in the opening quarter for the Tigers (8-1, 5-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), who scored 42 points by halftime and rolled to their fifth straight win — all by at least 14 points.

Sammy Watkins and Martavis Bryant also had first-half touchdown catches, helping Clemson rack up nearly 500 yards by halftime and 718 for the game.

The win moved Clemson into a tie with No. 9 Florida State atop the ACC’s Atlantic Division, though the Seminoles beat the Tigers in September for the head-to-head tiebreaker in the division race to reach the ACC championship game.

The loss dropped Duke (6-4, 3-3) a game behind Miami for the Coastal Division lead.



Virginia 33, N.C. State 6

RALEIGH, N.C. — Phillip Sims ran for one touchdown and threw for another, and Virginia routed North Carolina State 33-6 on Saturday to snap a six-game losing streak.

Kevin Parks rushed for 115 yards and a late 31-yard touchdown for the Cavaliers (3-6, 1-4 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Their defense more than doubled its season total for takeaways with five while holding N.C. State to 19 yards rushing, and their offense rolled up 446 total yards to lead Virginia to its first ACC win.

Sims was 8 of 10 for 115 yards with a 38-yard touchdown pass to Tim Smith and a 1-yard TD run that started the scoring for Virginia.

Backup Michael Rocco added an 18-yard touchdown pass to Darius Jennings.

Mike Glennon finished 23 of 46 for a season-low 197 yards with four turnovers — three interceptions and a fumble. The Wolfpack (5-4, 2-3) has 19 turnovers in their four losses.



Wake Forest 28,

Boston College 14

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Michael Campanaro caught three first-half touchdown passes from Tanner Price and Wake Forest took a step closer to becoming bowl eligible with a 28-14 win over Boston College on Saturday.

Campanaro tied an Atlantic Coast Conference record with 16 receptions for 123 yards and became only the eighth player in school history to catch three TD passes in a game.

Price was outstanding, completing 39 of 57 passes for 293 yards as the Demon Deacons (5-4, 3-4) bounced back from a 29-point thrashing last week to No. 9 Clemson.

Wake Forest came in with the lowest-scoring offense in the ACC, but looked sharp early with Price hooking up on touchdown strikes of 5, 27 and 16 yards to Campanaro to build a 21-7 halftime lead.

Chase Rettig threw for 357 yards for Boston College (2-7, 1-5), but turned the ball over four times, three of those on interceptions.
