The third annual Christmas with Santa Cops Motorcycle Ride begins Saturday at noon at Street Chrome USA, 4704 Martha Berry Highway.

The ride supports the Santa Cops program that pairs local law enforcement officers with less fortunate children for a shopping trip.

The cost is $15 per motorcycle and $5 per rider.

The Coosa Valley Fraternal Order of Police sponsors Christmas with Santa Cops.

Last year about 60 children shopped with the officers, according to Ghee Wilson, FOP president.

Every registered bike received a free raffle ticket for gift certificates to various businesses. The first 10 people to register will receive a free T-shirt.

Lunch will be provided by Street Chrome USA after the ride.

The date for the Christmas with Santa Cops program will be announced at later date.

The children will be selected around Thanksgiving and are picked by area school counselors Wilson said.

For more information, contact Wilson at gheewilson159@yahoo.com or call Anna Whitehead at Street Chrome at 706-232-6262 or email her at streetchromeusa@bellsouth.net.

The preliminary forecast from the National Weather Service calls for a sunny Saturday with a high near 70 degrees.
