A Rome man was arrested Saturday afternoon in the wake of an investigation into a Saturday morning incident in West Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Kenneth Patterson, 50, of 6 Timberlake Terrace, was arrested at about 3 p.m. Saturday and charged with breaking into a West Rome residence, battering a victim, then raping the woman.

Patterson supposedly approached the residence at about 3 a.m. Saturday and then shoved the woman away from the door to get inside. He supposedly punched the woman several times and choked her before allegedly committing the rape.

Patterson was held in the Floyd County jail without bond Saturday night.
