Police say a man who reported a check stolen later cashed it, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to reports:

Daniel Paul Ragan, 28, of 460 Rowlls Road, Lyerly, reported a stolen check to the Alabama Department of Human Resources, who stopped payment on it, on June 25. He allegedly cashed it two days later at Warehouse Beverage, 2558 Shorter Ave. He was charged with theft by taking.

The check was in the amount of $2,343. Ragan remained in jail Monday night without bond.
