MCDONOUGH, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say they've arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed an officer as he helped a stranded motorist south of Atlanta.

Henry County police say 43-year-old Ruben Marin-Garibay of Stockbridge was arrested Tuesday and charged with vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, failure to maintain lane and hit and run.

Police say Henry County Police officer Elgin Daniel was helping a stranded driver who had run out of gas when a Ford F-250 pickup truck slammed into him Monday night. Authorities say the truck also hit John Cook, an employee of a roadside service company who had stopped to help. Cook was recovering at a hospital.
