A Cedartown woman involved in a fatal car crash in May 2011 has been indicted.

According to Polk County Clerk of Court documents, Tia Marie Carter, 35, was indicted in a special presentment Oct. 30 on two counts of homicide by vehicle, serious injury by vehicle, DUI-drugs, and failure to maintain lane, according to court documents.

The Polk County Grand Jury issues a true bill special presentment if it feels there is enough evidence to warrant a trial.

Carter was traveling on Georgia Highway 6 near Branch Road on May 22, 2011, when she was involved in an early-morning crash that killed Alonzo Rodriguez and Justiniano Rojas. A third man, Angel Martinez Jr., was seriously injured, documents stated.

GSP officials said last year an investigation by the Special Collision Recovery Team (SCRT) supported troopers’ initial assessment that Carter crossed the center line and hit the men’s vehicle head on.
