THE ARTICLE that appeared in the Rome-News Tribune on Saturday, Nov. 3, addressing The 100 Black Men Of Rome/NWGA’s involvement in the voter intimidation and hate flier investigation is totally incorrect.

As a past president I can state, and I am sure our current president Curtis Adams will concur, that we are a non-partisan organization. As an organization we do not support any political candidates or causes. We do not have a spokesman or political advisor. Our efforts are centered on mentoring, education, economic development and health and wellness. All official positions of the organization must come from our elected president.

While a number of our members belong to a number of other organizations it is a disservice to us to assume (I understand that this was the case in this situation) that any of us can give an official position for The 100 Black Men Of Rome/NWGA.

I certainly hope that those of you who support us will continue to do so and understand that this particular story was misrepresentative, out of line and off base with the cause and efforts we actually support.
