New Echota in Calhoun offering tours of Cherokee site

CALHOUN -- New Echota Cherokee Capital State Historic Site and Friends of New Echota announce the annual Christmas Candlelight Tour to be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 6:30-9:30 pm.

Visitors are invited to kick off the holiday season by touring historic pathways of the town brightened by luminaries and enjoying the decorations, music and refreshments inside the historic buildings. Visitors should dress for the weather, bring a flashlight or a lantern, and be prepared for a ¾ mile walk.

$4.50-$6.50 admission fee. New Echota State Historic Site is located one mile east of I-75, exit 317, on GA Hwy. 225N in Calhoun. For more information, visit www.gastateparks.org/NewEchota or call 706-624-1321.
