2 suspects surrender after short standoff in Cartersville

Two men were arrested after a short standoff with Cartersville police on Friday night, reports stated.

According to Cartersville police reports:

At approximately 7:00 p.m. Friday police

responded to the Parkway North Apartments located at 1400 Joe Frank Harris Parkway. Witnesses said a man had fired shots at two people and the shooter and another individual were inside one of the apartments. Officers were told that the suspects had multiple weapons

Police evacuated the residents from nearby apartments and attempted to get the subjects in the apartment to come out. They refused.

SWAT officers arrived on the scene shortly thereafter. At approximately 8:40 p.m.,

Both suspects surrendered and were taken into custody.Police located a dismantled 20 gauge shotgun in the apartment

Jesse Tyler Sanderson, 28, and William Donald Garland, 34, both of Cartersville were arrested

Garland is charged with party to a crime and Felony Obstruction.

Sanderson is charged with felony obstruction, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a

firearm by a convicted felon.
