Chanlir Segarra scored a game-high 33 points as Berry College rallied to beat LaGrange, 103-99 in overtime, on the first day of the SAA/USA South Challenge.

Segarra was 10-21 from the field, converted 15-18 free throws, and made four 3-point baskets. Teammates Tara Mullinax and Mel McLean netted 21 and 19 points respectively in the game.

“The team really played hard and showed the growth I was hoping for after competing against very good teams last weekend,” said Berry head coach Stephanie Dunn. “They came together in the second half and pulled off a great victory.”

Berry started with a 2-0 lead, but LaGrange led almost the entire game. The Panthers were ahead at halftime, 52-46. In fact, the Vikings did not even tie the game until McLean made a 3-pointer to knot the contest at 99 with 44 seconds remaining in regulation.

In the overtime, Berry never trailed. Segarra sank all six of her free throws in the extra period to seal the win.

The Vikings out-rebounded the Panthers, 51-42. Berry shot 30-68 (44-percent) from the field; 10-20 (50-percent) from beyond the 3-point line; and 33-43 from the charity stripe (78-percent).

Heather Miller tallied a team-best 30 points for LaGrange (1-2).
