Alex’s Froyo, 3363 Martha Berry Highway in Armuchee will be adding specialty coffees to its frozen yogurt menu this week.

“Everybody kept telling us there’s no place to get coffee out here,” said owner Pat Vick. “We decided why not try it.”

The only thing that’s holding up the expansion is the in-stallation of the custom-made granite counter tops to match the existing counter tops in the store.

An eight-foot extension to an existing counter was devel-oped to serve as the coffee bar area.

Alex’s Froyo, in the Armuchee Village shopping center, will offer a full line of espresso-based beverages; cappuccino, mocha, latte and macchiato drinks will be available during regular business hours.

The yogurt show offers 16 different brands of self serve yo-gurts with more than 40 toppings.

Vick said that Alex’s Froyo instituted a special 10 percent program to return some of the proceeds of sales from the store to the community. Thus far, more $1,200 has been given back to 15 different schools in the community with Armuchee Elementary the leader, netting $273.31 from people who have enjoyed the yogurt at Alex’s Froyo.

The store has Toys for Tots drop box and Vick said they also have special plans to help some needy children at Christmas time.

The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
