Robert R. and Frances Dennis Long celebrated their 60th anniversary on Nov. 27, 2012. They recently celebrated by spending a week at Disney World with their son and his family.

The two met while Mr. Long was stationed in Warner Robins Air Force Base. They were married Nov. 27, 1952 at Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins.

Mr. Long is a native of El Reno, Okla. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State and his master’s degree from Mercer University. He was assistant principal at East Rome High School.

Mrs. Long is the former Frances Dennis of Langley, S.C. She attended business college and took courses at Floyd Junior College.

The two have been living in Floyd County for 43 years.

They attended Sherwood Forest Baptist Church where they were both Sunday School teachers and Mr. Long served as deacon.

They have two children, Robert Long Jr. and Dennise Minshew. They have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The couple say the secret of a successful marriage is love and a dependence on Jesus Christ.
