Report: Felon found with gun

A Rome man remained in jail Sunday night after allegedly lying to officers about possessing and shooting a gun that was found loaded approximately 50 feet from him, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Jeffrey Allen Dowdy, 47, of 13 Mahogany St. was arrested near the intersection of Three Rivers Drive and Medical Lane. He was charged with felony possession of firearm by a convicted felon, misdemeanor reckless conduct and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
