The U.S. Department of Transportation issued a statement saying it has declared Johnny Felton Jr. an imminent hazard because he failed to exercise appropriate care regarding his medical conditions.
The statement didn't identify those conditions. When reached Tuesday by telephone at his home in Hinesville, Ga., Felton declined to comment.
No charges have been filed against Felton in the Nov. 26 accident near Litchfield that killed Illinois State Police trooper Kyle Deatherage. Authorities say Deatherage was working a traffic stop along the freeway when he was hit by a tractor-trailer.
