According to Sgt. Trixie Morgan:
Stephanie Earwood Osborne, 34, of 12 Wisteria St., Silver Creek, was found by a Floyd County Sheriff’s deputy Friday at about 8 p.m. passed out at the wheel of her Hyundai Elantra while at the red light on East First Street at Second Avenue.
Her 13-month-old son was discovered sitting in a car seat in the back of the vehicle.
After Rome police arrived on the scene she became alert and applied the gas, striking the front of the patrol car that was blocking her exit.
She continued to disobey commands to stop until officers broke out the front windows of her car and pulled her out.
The child was checked out by Floyd Medical Center paramedics and appeared to be uninjured. Osborne was found to be in possession of prescription pill bottles and was charged with DUI and child endangerment with other charges pending.
Osborne was also arrested on Wednesday night on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, child endangerment and open container violation. She was released on bond on those charges. She remained in jail Friday night on the new charges.
