PORTERVILLE, Calif. (AP) — A tribal official says the three people who died and three children wounded in shootings around an Indian reservation in California were the gunman's family members.

Tribal council secretary Rhoda Hunter said Sunday the woman and two men found dead Saturday on the Tule River Indian Reservation were Hector Celaya's mother and her two brothers.

Hunter says a boy and two girls who were wounded by gunshots are Celaya's children. Authorities say the boy is in critical condition, and one girl suffered life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not said what motivated Celaya to kill his relatives, who lived in a travel trailer on a family compound on the reservation of about 800 people.

Celaya also died Sunday from injuries sustained during a shootout with police who were trying to apprehend him.
