MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — A 25-year-old man arrested on terrorism charges has appeared in federal court in Mobile.

AL.com reports Randy "Rasheed" Wilson applied for a court-appointed lawyer Thursday, and is being held in the Mobile County Metro Jail.

Authorities say Wilson and another 25-year-old man, Mohammad Abdul Rahman Abukhdair, were looking to travel to Morocco. Officials say the men met online in 2010, and Wilson told an FBI employee that he and Abukhdair planned to travel overseas to participate in violent jihad.

Wilson was stopped in Atlanta while trying to board a flight to Morocco and the second man was arrested at a bus terminal in Augusta, Ga.

Authorities say he Wilson is scheduled to return to court for a detention hearing on Dec. 17.
