2 men facing multiple drug charges

Two men were arrested near an East Rome public housing property for allegedly having marijuana and cocaine packaged for sale, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Tommy Michael Thornton, 25, of 58 Lloyd Drive, was with Michael Joe Johnson, 31, of 1015 Jake Horton Road, Silver Creek, on Wednesday night when they were stopped on East 12th Street.

Authorities found a quantity of cocaine that was more than for personal use as well as marijuana packaged for distribution.

Both men were charged with felony counts of possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of public housing property and possession of cocaine within 1,000 feet of public housing property.

Johnson was released Thursday on $27,700 bond while Thornton remained in jail Friday night on a parole violation and also had a bond of $27,700.
