Holiday Tourney: Darlington girls, Cartersville boys win championships

In a tense back and forth matchup that wasn't decided until the final second of the clock ticked off, the Darlington Tigers held on to top Model 44-41 in the girls final.

Tournament Most valuable player, Terar Stewart scored a game-high 17 points leading the Tigers to their first Holiday Tournament Championship since 1990.

In the boys game, Cartersville downed Model, 64-55.

In earlier action, Rome High senior Matt Scott scored a game high 26 points, leading the Wolves to a 61-48 win over Darlington in the consolation finals of the Holiday Basketball Tournament Friday afternoon at Berry College.

Rome High senior Astri Dupree scored a game high 23 points, leading the Lady Wolves to a 62-57 victory over Cartersville in the first consolation final game tonight in the 2012 Holiday Festival Basketball Tournament.

Rome and Darlington boys will play in the other consolation final set to tip at 5:30 p.m.

Model and Darlington will play in the girls finals tonight and Model and Cartersville will meet in the boys final.

The games are being played at the Cage Center on the campus of Berry College. All games are being streamed live and can be watched here.
