Steelers coach Mike Tomlin made the announcement Monday, a day after his team's 13-10 overtime loss to Cincinnati. Miller was injured late in the fourth quarter of the game and will need surgery. The Steelers said the 30-year-old Miller also injured his medial collateral ligament and possibly his posterior cruciate ligament.
"Unfortunately his season comes to an end," Tomlin said. "He has been rock solid for us and we really appreciate his efforts. We understand injuries are a part of the game, but unfortunately it brings his season to a close."
Cincinnati (9-6) clinched a second straight playoff berth after beating the Steelers (7-8) for the first time since 2009. Pittsburgh (7-8) was eliminated from postseason contention.
Miller finished the season with 71 catches for career highs of 816 yards and eight touchdowns.
Steelers reserve running back Baron Batch underwent surgery to repair a fractured bone in an arm. Batch was hurt against Cincinnati.
