Snow flurries in forecast tonight but no accumulation expected, according to the National Weather Service

Weather update: The National Weather Service has issued a weather statement predicting possible periods of light snow or a wintry mix across central and north Georgia tonight, but now accumulation is expected.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s or lower 30s, causing some roads to be slick in higher elevations.







Previously posted: There's been some snow flurries mixed with light rain today in Rome but only enough to make your windshield damp.

So far today we've received .16 inches of rain with most of that in the early morning.

We've got a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before noon today but the skies are going to be cloudy and it's going to be a windy one - with gusts as high as 35 mph, according to the NWS.

Today's high is forecast at around 55 with the low dipping down to around 29.

On Christmas day we got 1.4 inches of rain according to the rain gauge at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport.
