Richard Smiley of Goodlettsville, Tenn., and Lori Smiley of Nashville, Tenn., announce the engagement of their daughter, Carla Denise Smiley to Bradley Joseph Pierson. The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Curt Pierson of Rome.

    The bride-to-be is a 2007 graduate of Father Ryan High School in Nashville, Tenn., and a 2012 graduate of Shorter University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  She is currently attending Austin Peay State University graduate school, pursuing a master’s degree in Nursing Administration. She currently is employed at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

    Miss Smiley is the sister of Mary Smiley, Catherine Chomicki, and Stephanie Julkenbeck.  She is the granddaughter of William Hayward of Cleveland, Ohio and the late Dorthea Hayward as well as the late Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Smiley of Goodlettsville, Tenn.

The groom-elect is a 2005 graduate of Darlington School and a graduate of the University of the South-Sewanee in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He then received his Master of Education degree from Berry College in 2011. He is the assistant men’s basketball coach at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. He is the brother of Patrick Pierson of Athens. He is the grandson of Mary Ann Corley, Bill Pierson, the late Lamar Corley and the late LuAnn Pierson.

    The wedding will be held in Nashville, Tenn., on June 22, 2013.
