Middle School Wrestling: Model takes first at championships

Model finished first as a team with 246 points recently in the Floyd County middle school wrestling championships.

Pepperell took second with 181 points, and Cedartown came in third with 166 points. Armuchee, Rockmart, Darlington, Chattooga and Coosa rounded out the team scoring.

First-place individual finishers were Model’s Walter Byrd (70), Model’s Dalton Blankenship (75), Cedartown’s Will McLendon (80), Rockmart’s Truett Bowman (85), Rockmart’s AJ Streetman (90), Rockmart’s Griffin Pace (95), Model’s Tyler Pilcher (103), Pepperell’s Jake Ross (112), Armuchee’s Justin Tanner (118), Chattooga’s Dakota Deberry (125), Cedartown’s Calvin Ragsdale (132), Pepperell’s Reed Jackson (139), Darlington’s William Groover (145), Model’s McLain Pyles (152), Kyler Eldridge (160), Armuchee’s JC Burkett (170), Cedartown’s Tyler Blaylock (185), Darlington’s Burt Tidwell (200), Pepperell’s Hinton Bolinger (220) and Coosa’s Billy Leffler (285).
