Two people were arrested Wednesday after they attempted to leave a retail store with merchandise without paying for it, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports:

James Thomas Page, 69, of 1201 W. North Main St., LaFayette, and Veronica Lynn Pickard, 42, of 266 Harrell St., Trion, were both charged with felony theft by shoplifting when they attempted to leave Belk inside Mount Berry Square mall with $707 of miscellaneous clothing.

Pickard had given a false name and a false date of birth when taken into custody.

Both remained in jail Wednesday night without bond.
