VALDOSTA (AP) — Police say a college student in Valdosta used a shotgun to scare away an attempted armed robber.

WALB-TV reports two Valdosta State University students were in their apartment Sunday night when a man knocked on the door. Police say one of the students opened the door to a man pointing a gun at him and told him not to move. Police say the man's roommate grabbed a shotgun from inside the apartment and pointed it back at the suspect, who ran from the apartment.

Police say the student fired a shot toward the suspect's SUV as he fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
