The Lady Hawks fell on the road at Delta State, 55-44, as the Lady Statesmen swept this season’s series after winning earlier in Rome.

Shorter (13-9, 8-6 GSC) hosted Delta State on Jan. 10, with the visiting team winning that game 65-54.

The Lady Hawks failed to have own a lead in the game, shooting 29 percent from the floor and 20 percent from behind the arc.

Delta State (14-7, 9-4 GSC) would convert 43 percent of their shots, while going 7-for-15 on 3-pointers to go 47 percent.

Delta State would shoot 50 percent in the final 20 minutes of play, while Shorter connected on only five field goals while shooting 20 percent.

Karisma Boykin would lead the team in scoring for the seventh time this season with 12, while adding three rebounds and three assists. Boykin would go 2-for-6 on 3-pointers and would also be 2-for-2 on free throw attempts.

The Lady Hawks would receive eight points each from Ieshia Alexander and Crawford. While Shelby Farrer would pull in eight rebounds and Crawford would add another five rebounds.

The Lady Hawks would force 13 Lady Statesmen turnovers and convert those to nine points.

Delta State would see a pair of double doubles as Rhandi Ball would score 10 and add 16 rebounds, and Seneca Walton would add 10 points and 10 rebounds. Chelsey Rhodes would be the high scorer for the game with 16 points. Chadisty Hickman would score 13 points from the bench to lead the Lady Statesmen to a 22-12 advantage in points from the bench.

Shorter will continue the road trip with a stop in Memphis, Tenn. at Christian Brothers University. The Lady Hawks won the January 12 match up with CBU from the Winthrop-King Centre, 56-43.
