Rome police say a Rudy Street man broke into several vehicles parked at Home Depot, and they think there could be more victims.

And if you bought some of the stolen tools, police want to talk to you.

Pete Sailors, a detective with the Rome Police Department, said anyone who comes forward and says they bought tools from Roderick Leroy Camp will not be charged with a crime.

Camp, 55, of 103 Rudy St., is charged with four counts of misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen property, two counts of misdemeanor criminal trespass, five counts of misdemeanor theft by taking (from an automobile), four counts of felony entering an automobile with the intent to commit a theft or felony, and one count of felony theft by taking.

According to the reports, in four separate thefts occurring from Oct. 27 to Nov. 7, Camp took saws, a tool box full of tools, power tools, jumper cables, an air mattress and an air mattress inflator.

Camp also is accused of breaking into a truck owned by the City of Rome water department on Nov. 26, 2012, and taking a saw and drill from the bed of the truck while the driver was waiting for lumber at Home Depot.

“He’s a suspect in another six to seven cases,” Sailors said. “He has tried to sell some of the items on the street.”

Anyone who purchased tools from Camp or has information about the thefts is asked to contact Sailors at 706-238-5118 or psailors@romepolice.com.

Camp remained in the Floyd County Jail on Wednesday evening with no bond set.

He reiterated that anyone who comes forward now and says they have purchased tools from Camp will not be charged.

Pete should get on craigslist.org and put in "rome" for a search and start busting the people with the stolen items and the illegal firearms sales or solicitations around here at least.

Anybody that bought stolen tools at a low price should have known they were stolen. You know they won't bring them back. Check craigslist.org lately?

NEVER buy anything from anyone on there. They will pull out a gun and rob you when you show up with cash to buy their non-existent item or they will sell you stolen items or damaged items. Half the stuff on there is stolen just like this guy's stuff he stole.

Paranoid much? Geez. I buy and sell quite a bit on Craigslist, and I've never been robbed at gunpoint or even ripped off. Not everything on the Lifetime channel is true, friend.

@Highonthehog,

Man, you're definitely high on something and I don't think it's a hog! I've bought several used items on Craigslist and never had any of the problems you talk about. Yes, I know these things do happen and if something sounds too good to be true, you should watch out. But to decide that everyTHING on Craigslist is stolen and everyBODY is a crook is just crazy!
