A woman initially accused of theft for double billing UGA and Floyd County Parks and Recreation for the same work has had the charges against her dismissed.

Authorities arrested Elizabeth Ansley Brewster, 33, in February on two misdemeanor counts of theft by deception.

According to reports, Brewster allegedly misled her su-pervisor at the University of Georgia’s Cooperative Extension Office twice in 2012 by giving the false impression she’d be working at the county Parks and Recreation Department as part of her daily duties.

The allegations surfaced in an audit performed by UGA, and the UGA police department investigated the case, said District Attorney Leigh Patterson. No university police officers conferred with Patterson about the case.

“We felt it should have been handled administratively,” Patterson said.

Brewster paid about $1,600 in restitution plus court costs. The case was dismissed last month, Patterson added.

Brewster has applied for her case to be expunged.
