RINGGOLD — Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk said his office will change its policies on how it handles traffic stops.

At a new conference Thursday, Sisk spoke of allegations that a former deputy may have looked the other way during suspected DUI incidents involving an FBI special agent.

“The sheriff’s office is reviewing our policies and procedures to see what changes need to be made to ensure that this does not happen again,” the sheriff said.

FBI special agent Ken Hillman, who heads up the Northwest Georgia Crimes Against Children Task Force, has fallen under scrutiny in the past couple of weeks following the firing of a Ringgold police sergeant in mid-February for giving Hillman a ride out of state while he was apparently intoxicated instead of arresting him.

Other alleged instances of similar behavior have come to light during the past week involving current and former employees of the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office.

“My inquiry has revealed three traffic stops involving FBI agent Hillman over the past five years, and contrary to allegations, none of them have any evidence of criminal wrongdoing on the part of past or present Catoosa County sheriff’s office employees,” Sisk said.

Sisk was adamant he doesn’t condone the actions of a former officer who admitted last week to allowing Hillman to call a sheriff’s detective for a ride home.
