High winds expected in north Georgia mountains

ATLANTA (AP) — Forecasters are warning of high winds in the north Georgia mountains on Monday.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for areas above 1,500 feet in elevation through 5 p.m. Monday. It covers several mountain counties and includes the cities of Blairsville, Dahlonega and Chatsworth.

The weather service said winds of up to 25 mph -- with gusts of up to 35 mph -- are expected.

Rain was expected to move into the state Monday afternoon, with the possibility of some thunderstorms.
