Stemco Rome, formerly known as Rome Tool and Die, 113 Hemlock Street, has submitted plans with local officials for an expansion at the plant in south Rome.

The company, which makes brake shoes and pads, is a leading after market manufacturer, will add a new friction line, laboratory, restroom and locker room.

Rome architect Robert Noble has been contracted to design the new facility.
