No one was injured after a car hydroplaned on U.S. 27 Monday night, slid through the median and partially overturned after striking a rock, Rome police said.

The Lincoln was headed northbound in the inside lane about 8:15 p.m. when it began to hydroplane near the Georgia Northwestern Technical College exit, said Pfc. Aaron Thacker.

“He said he hydroplaned as he was traveling,” Thacker added.

The Lincoln went into the median, traveling some 450 feet before it struck a rock. That sent it sideways and into some trees, also in the median, where it came to a rest, Thacker said.

The car’s single occupant was uninjured, the officer said.
