Two men charged in connection with stabbings at the Floyd County Jail have waived their right to indictment and pleaded not guilty.

Timothy Dalton Barton, 31, of 3839 Franklin Highway in Franklin, is accused of stabbing two men last October while being housed in the “M” block, which is maximum security.

According to jail reports and Lt. Scott Knight, he stabbed one man in the front of the lower neck with a razor blade and another person in the face and neck. One of the inmates was disfigured, according to the warrant.

Dewayne Ramon Young, 32, of 207 Central St., Cedar­town, is accused of holding one of the inmates while Barton stabbed him.

Young and Barton are each charged with one felony count of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated battery, a felony count of possession of a weapon behind the guard line, a felony count of riot in a penal institute and a felony count of street gang activity.

Barton is facing an additional count of aggravated assault.

The two claimed to be members of the prison gang “Gangster’s Disciples,” according to the warrant.

No trial date has been set.
