Senator Chuck Hufstetler (R-Rome) was recently selected to serve on the Child Support Commission by Governor Nathan Deal.

“I am honored and thankful to Governor Deal for his appointment to this influential committee,” said Sen. Hufstetler. “It is important to reevaluate child support guidelines to reflect our current economic status, while also protecting Georgia’s children, regardless of family dynamics.”

Fifteen members are appointed by Gov. Deal and are selected as follows: three Superior Court Judges, one Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia, two House of Representatives members, two Senate members and seven key stakeholders. Members serve a term of four years.

The Georgia Child Support Commission was created for the purpose of studying and collecting information relating to awards of child support and to create and revise the child support obligation table. The commission is responsible for conducting a comprehensive review of the child support guidelines, economic conditions and all matters relevant to maintaining effective and efficient child support guidelines.

The commission will meet as necessary.
