A Rome man accused of passing counterfeit money at a local gas station was arrested Thursday, reports state.

Victor Orlando Watts, 35, is charged with a felony count of first-degree forgery, records state.

According to Floyd County Jail reports, Watts was at the Kangaroo gas station on Oct. 11 and passed $220 in counterfeit bills in exchange for a money order.

Reports state the clerk kept the bills and handed them over to police. Warrants were obtained later that month, and Watts was arrested Thursday. He remained in jail Thursday night without bond, officials said.
