ATLANTA (AP) — A van used to transport prisoners overturned on an Atlanta freeway, jamming traffic at the start of the rush hour.

Authorities say the crash involving the Fulton County prisoner transport van shut down most of the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 around 6:30 a.m. Friday.

WSB-TV reports that an officer and a prisoner were inside the van when it overturned northwest of midtown Atlanta.

Fulton County sheriff's spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan tells CBS Atlanta that the deputy was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for precautionary reasons.

Flanagan said the injured inmate was also taken to Grady. The extent of the inmate's injuries was not known.

The northbound lanes were reopened later Friday morning after the wreckage was cleared.
