A Rome Transit Department school bus carrying about 40 students waits on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near North Broad Street on Friday after a flatbed truck sideswiped the bus. A police officer said there were no injuries and no apparent damage to the bus. (Alan Riquelmy, RN-T.com)
The incident happened about 4 p.m. on Martin Luther King Boulevard, near its intersection with North Broad Street. The bus was headed toward downtown when the truck sideswiped it and kept going, Pfc. Rick Robinson said.
“Based on what we could gather, he probably didn’t know he hit it,” the officer added.
There appeared to be no damage to the bus, and no one was hurt, Robinson said.
The bus was stopped by a gas station as police investigated the incident. Traffic was unimpeded.
