Mr. and Mrs. Larry Alton Foster of Rome announce the engagement of their daughter Kristen Denise Foster to Andrew Mitchel Bishop of Gainesville, Fla., son of the Rev. and Mrs. Allen Royce Bishop of Louisville, Ky.

Miss Foster is a 1996 graduate of Rome High School and attended the University of Georgia. She served as a past vice president of the Rome Girls’ Cotillion. She is employed as a sales and design consultant at McBrayer Brothers Furniture Co. in Rome.

The bride-elect is the sister of Brian Scott Foster of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Georgia Shadinger Foster of Carrollton, the late Levi Alton Foster and the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Kingdon.

Bishop is a 1995 graduate of Rome High School. He is a 2000 graduate of Samford University, where he earned a bachelor of science in business administration and was a member of the varsity track and cross country teams. He is pursuing a master’s degree in sport management at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he also serves as a graduate assistant.

The groom-elect is the brother of Adam Royce Bishop and Allen Scott Bishop, both of Birmingham, Ala., Aaron Kenneth Bishop of Nashville, Tenn. and the late Alex Whitt Bishop. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchel L. Bishop of Louisville and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth R. George of Treasure Island, Fla.

The wedding is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001 at Frost Chapel, Berry College, with a reception at Horseleg Plantation Country Club
