Calhoun Police have released the name of a possible suspect in Thursday’s armed robbery at Regions Bank in Calhoun.

Chief Garry Moss said the suspect is believed to be Anthony “Tony” Ray Artrip, who was featured on America’s Most Wanted on Sept. 22.

Artrip, who is wanted for escape from a Williamstown, Ken., jail, has been on the run since June 24, 2007.

According to Calhoun Police:

Artrip entered the Calhoun branch of Regions Bank just after 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, demanding money; he then jumped behind the counter and proceeded to take money from a teller’s drawer.

He ran away to a nearby vehicle believed to be a dark-colored SUV.

Artrip is suspected of robbing several other banks since his escape and is being pursued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as well as the U.S. Marshals Office.

Calhoun Police are asking anyone with information to contacted Detective Lt. Tony Pyle or Detective Tom Petty at 706-629-1234.
