The Hot Shots All-Star Cheerleaders from Rome traveled to Birmingham, Ala. on Jan. 30 to attend the Southeast Open National Championship, sponsored by Cheerleaders of America.

The competitive event included more than 30 all-star teams from Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee, and was held at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center.

The national event was also a qualifier for the U.S. finals, a multi-city, international competition to be held this spring in the cities of Orlando, Baton Rouge, Kansas City, Cincinnati, Las Vegas, and Virginia Beach.

In the Junior Coed Level 3 division, the Hot Shots Scorchers placed first, and received a first-place bid to the U.S. finals. In Senior Level 4, the Hot Shots Hurricanes placed first, and received a first-place bid to the U.S. finals. And in the Senior Open Level 5 division, the Hot Shots Coed Twisters won the Level 5 Grand Championship and received a paid bid to the U.S. finals.

This marks the second consecutive Level 5 Grand Championship won by the Hot Shots Coed Twisters this season, as well as the second consecutive paid bid earned towards an international competitive event. The Hot Shots All Stars continue their 2010 competitive season on Feb. 26 at the WSA National Championship in New Orleans, La.
