Dixon, Berry shine at Tech: Vikings’ crew team earns high finishes at Indoor Rowing event

The Berry Viking Crew participated in the Georgia Tech Erg Sprints (Indoor Rowing Championships) at Georgia Tech this weekend.

Berry’s Megan Walton won a Bronze Medal in the Novice Womens event with a time of 7:54.7, an impressive feat against the huge womens crew from Georgia Tech.

Berry’s coach, Dr. Hamilton Dixon, came in 4th in the 60-and-up Veteran Men with no handicap in 7:45.9. The race is 2000 meters on the Concept 2 rowing machine.

Dr. Dixon will be going to the World Indoor Rowing Championships (CRASH-B) in Boston on Feb 14th.

Women’s Novice: Megan Walton 7:54.7 (Bronze), Elizabeth Stone 8:19.8, Jessica Buice 8:28.6, Hillary Anderton 8:52.7, Amanda Crouthamel 8:53.6, Joanna McDowell 9:00.8, Laura Smolley 9:12.5, Mary Curlee 9:54.8

Novice Men: Clay Henry 7:30.9,  Nathan Rice 8:06.0.

Lightweight Men: Brent Hardin 7:19.4.

Open Women: Tacy Smith 2:10.6 (5th place), Courtney Major 2:11.6, Catherine Aslinger 8:54.3 (with injured knee).

Open Men: Conrad Beckman 6:44.5, Mark Furst 7:02.8.

Coxwains Women 1000 meters: Melissa Vogt 4:43.4, Nicole Pearre 4:49.0, Kelsey Taylor 5:06.7

Team Relay: Berry Viking Crew 6:35.9, (4th place).
