The Rome Chiefs lost early on Tuesday, but rebounded with a win to put themselves in the 16-year-old Dizzy Dean World Series Championship Game.
The Chiefs fell to the Mosley Dolphins, 3-1, in the morning on Tuesday in Southaven, Miss., but were able to beat J.P.R.D East, 5-4, in extra innings to force a rematch with Mosley.
The two teams will meet at 9 a.m. today, and if the Chiefs win there will be a decisive Game 2.
The 12-year-old Rome Renegades were defeated by the Blount County All-Stars, 8-6, in the first game of championship bracket play.
The Renegades will face the Jemison All-Stars today at 10 a.m. in the third-place game.
The 8-year-old Rome Braves and 10-year-old Aragon Outlaws were both eliminated from tournament play on Tuesday. The Braves fell to the Bradley North All-Stars, and the Outlaws went down to the Tallahassee American.
The 14-year-old Rome Outcast and 8-year-old Rome Rookies were both eliminated from World Series contention on Monday.
